Community Groups That Use Our Space

Rusty Spoke Bicycle Collective is more than a bike shop. We support the community around us by offering our space to other groups which are working to improve the Phoenix area. These people use the space to hold workshops, fundraising events, meetings, and any other projects that the space is good for. The groups also help to support the Rusty Spoke. Below is a list of groups in which the Rusty Spoke Bicycle Collective has worked with. It contains a brief description of what they do and also some contact information.

If you are interested in using the space, please feel free to contact us.

AZ F.A.N.

AZ FAN is a loose band of anti-patriarchal, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-heteronormative, anti-cisnormative, and anti-hierarchical fanatics. We are passionate about spreading cultures of mutual aid, accountability, and resistance. We are figuring out what that means specifically to this region where white supremacy, dogmatic nationalism and prison slavery is at our throats, and patriarchy is internalized by anyone without question. We come together to actively support and aid each other in separate projects, actions, and endeavors. AZ FAN is not an organization - we are a network, confronting and dismantling all fronts of oppression.

A.C.T.

The Abortion Connection Team of Arizona is a grassroots organization forming now to assist people going through abortion procedures in the Phoenix Valley. We provide low-income patients with a safer place to sleep who are forced to travel to Phoenix and Tempe for their medical care. We are organizing fundraising events and accepting donations right now for hotel vouchers. We are also creating visible “pro-People” atmospheres of reproductive justice in the state of Arizona

Phoenix Copwatch

Phoenix Copwatch is a citizen's group formed in 1998 to combat abuse by the police in our community. We use a variety of means to fight police abuse, including community patrols, videotaping of police activity, and education. Copwatch is completely independent from the police, all other law enforcement agencies, the government, and all political parties. Although Copwatch groups exist in many other cities around the world, they all operate independently, and there is no national or international body that oversees our organization. All of our members are unpaid volunteers who freely dedicate their time to ending police abuse.
